A Cheater gets caught

Once upon a time I dated a loser whom I will refer to as "A-hole" for 3 years. It was not a perfect relationship, we had our ups and downs, but it wasn't terrible either. After about 2 1/2 years, however, things got very rocky and I started to suspect that he was cheating on me. Long story short (for the long story, check my other hubpages), I found out via MySpace that A-hole was, in fact, cheating on me. I had contacted the "suspect" by sending an email to her Myspace profile and, after a month or so, she responded. He was caught!

Meeting the "Other Woman"

So after confirming that A-hole was, in fact, cheating, I was completely devastated. I went through all the stages: anger, denial, depression, humiliation, etc. I had dated this guy for 3 years, thought he was my best friend, but it turned out I didn't know him at all. I thought my life was over and that I would have to leave town and start over.

That's when "The Other Woman" had a brilliant idea. Why don't we meet each other? To say I was apprehensive is an understatement. I had no idea who this girl was, why she wanted to meet me and if she was even telling the truth. After many conversations with my girlfriends and countless hours of stressing, I decided to meet her.

Meeting was the best idea because it forced me to realize that she was not the evil monster I had imagined in my mind. She had been lied to just as much as I was. Also, because A-hole was a computer guy, he was communicating with us via email and messenger, so she and I were able to print out conversations and compare what he was saying to each of us. After seeing the evidence it was really hard to succumb to my sadness. I got angry and was determined never to be fooled again. She and I are now great friends, we've even traveled to Hawaii together! I like to say, "I lost a loser but gained a friend forever!"

Have you ever caught a cheater?

  • Yes, and I'm better off for it!
  • No, I've been lucky in love!
  • Not sure, they were pretty sneaky.

I am in awe of your strength of character.

As painful as your initial communication must have been you did so willingly & with intent.

I am inspired.
